Have Questions?
Those who care for a loved one can’t always check in as often as they’d like. Verocall is a reliable and friendly way to monitor well-being of loved ones for a fraction of the cost of other wellness check programs.
No. As long as you have a telephone, you can use Verocall. You can even use Verocall without a telephone and check in via email.
No. A landline phone will work just fine. Mobile phones have the benefit of texting in OK status, but are not required.
Yes. A loved one can check in by text message, by email, by answering the incoming call, or by calling in during a check in period.
Loved one is a person who is living alone or who needs occasional check ins to ensure well being.
Care circle is one or many people who want notification of a loved one’s status
A live human is not calling. It’s like a friendly conversational answering machine but with the encyclopedic knowledge and capabilities of Commander Data (from Star Trek). Your agent is conversational, often inspiring, and most importantly, knows what questions to ask to understand well-being.
We do not strive to become a companion for those whose cognitive level might allow that perception–just like an answering machine or a care provider is not a companion. We work hard to make the agents as engaging as possible–even fun, but use names like “Audrey-Bot” to ensure the ‘robot’ nature of the agent. Some loved ones look forward to the conversation and frankly, some merely tolerate it to ensure their own well-being. Again, think answering machine or Star Trek’s Commander Data (a functioning android). If your loved one cannot distinguish the difference, consider switching to a more ‘fun’ voice/character. If the check-ins are causing concerns instead of helping, it is time to have a conversation with your Loved One and consider stopping the service.
There are over 20 categories of well-being questions Your agent will politely raise conversations topics related to each person’s situation. If some topics become laborious or repetitive, Verocall will adjust. Either the loved one or the primary care circle person can choose which topics are a good fit.
We want kids to call their parents as often as possible and even have plans for a “call your Loved One” reminder. If your loved on is getting several calls a day from those who care, then is great(!) and you’re not yet ready for Verocall. Coordinating reliable check-in calls, one to two times each day, where all who care are notified of a no-engagement event? It turns out it’s hard to do. We actually tried this at the start. If your sister misses a call to mom, how would you know? Will you stop what you are doing every morning at 8:30AM and then again at 7PM to call? And what if Mom doesn’t pick up the first call? Try again in 20 minutes–in the middle of your meeting or while you are out in the field. Use Verocall to check on your Loved One’s well-being. But call them personally at least once a week! We’ll even help remind you (and others who care) to do that.
